Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

We collect only the minimum data needed to operate the poll:

• Mobile number: Collected for one-time OTP verification. Immediately converted to a cryptographic hash (HMAC-SHA256). The original number is never stored.
• IP address: Hashed and stored for anti-spam purposes only.
• Vote/rating data: Stored anonymously, linked only to a hashed identifier.
• Comments: Your chosen display name and comment text.
• Consent timestamp: When you agreed to this policy.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To verify that you are a real person (one vote per mobile number)
• To prevent duplicate votes and spam
• To display aggregated, anonymous poll results
• We never sell, share, or use your data for advertising

3. Hashing and Security

Your mobile number is processed server-side using HMAC-SHA256 with a secret key. This is a one-way process — we cannot reverse the hash to recover your mobile number. Only the hash is stored in our database.

4. Data Retention

We retain anonymised vote and rating data to maintain poll integrity. You may request deletion of all data associated with your mobile number at any time (see below).

5. No Advertising

This platform displays no advertisements and does not share data with advertisers. We are an independent, politically neutral platform.

6. Politically Neutral

Kerala Poll does not promote any political party, candidate, or ideology. All poll options are managed by a neutral administrator. Results are presented as public sentiment data, not election predictions.
